PRESS RELEASE
Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce appoints first-ever Chairwoman and welcomes a renewed Board of Directors
Brussels, 5 May 2025 — The Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the election of Kathleen Figueiredo Laissy as its new Chairwoman, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to assume the role since the Chamber’s founding in 1938.
Ms. Figueiredo Laissy brings to the position a dynamic vision rooted in innovation, inclusion, and stronger ties between the Belgian and Portuguese business communities. Her appointment reflects the Chamber’s commitment to modern governance and to better representing the diverse community it serves.

The Chamber expresses its heartfelt appreciation to Rui Faria da Cunha, who has led the organisation with vision and dedication over the past six years. During his tenure, the Chamber broadened its network, deepened bilateral ties between Belgium and Portugal, and reinforced its role as a trusted platform for business dialogue. His leadership leaves a lasting legacy and a strong foundation upon which the Chamber will continue to build.
In addition to the new Chairwomanship, the Chamber announces the election of a renewed Board of Directors, with five new Directors joining the leadership team. This expanded and revitalised Board brings fresh perspectives and a broader range of professional experience, reinforcing the Chamber’s role as a key platform for promoting business, investment, and innovation between Belgium and Portugal.
The Chamber looks forward to this new chapter, confident that the leadership of Kathleen Figueiredo Laissy and the newly elected Board will bring renewed energy and ambition to its mission.
