The Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce today honours Griet Meert, a member of our community and director of the Viva-Educa association, for her recent appointment as Honorary Consul of Portugal in Ghent.

Since taking up her post on 4 September – an event attended by António Costa Moura, Ambassador of Portugal to Belgium – Griet has been working to strengthen ties between Portugal and Belgium in the provinces of East Flanders and West Flanders — something she has always demonstrated through her passion for Portugal and her teaching and cultural promotion activities — as well as to foster closer ties with the Portuguese diaspora living in the country.

The CCBP applauds this achievement by Griet, whose commitment and work in promoting the Portuguese language and culture in Belgium are duly recognised at this institutional level. We wish her every success in carrying out this important mission.
