CCBP Decisive Talks: Vasco Pereira da Silva

The Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (CCBP) invites its members to participate in this month's edition of "Decisive Talks". This time, we are happy to welcome Vasco Pereira da Silva, Head of Policy at Allied for Startups.

As a key policy advocacy institution in Brussels, Allied for Startups aims to empower innovation and support the growth of startups, advocating for policies that promote competition and enable an ecosystem where startups can grow, succeed, and generate impact.

At Allied for Startups, Vasco is responsible for the organization’s work on European startup policy, digital regulation, innovation, and competitiveness, acting as a bridge between policymakers and the startup ecosystem.

This exchange will offer CCBP members a unique opportunity to better understand the evolving European policy landscape for startups and innovation, as well as the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the digital economy in Europe.

Originally from Porto, Vasco Pereira da Silva holds a PhD in Public Policy from ISCTE-IUL (2023), and a Master’s degree in Law, specialising in European and International Law, from KU Leuven (2015), Vasco has got an extensive background in public policy, law, and European affairs.

His career spans key roles in Portuguese government offices, including serving as Advisor for European Affairs in the Cabinet of Prime Minister António Costa during the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU (2019-2021). Between 2021 and 2024, he served as Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the EU, where he held significant positions including Coordinator and Counsellor for Health Affairs, Deputy Mertens, Mertens.

Vasco is passionate about connecting startups and policymakers, believing that startups are vital to a thriving European economy.
