Reunion between CCBP and the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa



The Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce was delighted to welcome Secretary of State Emídio Sousa last Friday as part of his official visit to Belgium.


The meeting provided an opportunity for in-depth reflection on economic activity in Belgium, the strengthening of bilateral economic relations and the role of the Portuguese diaspora as a strategic asset for Portugal as a global nation, based on an international community with a common language, culture and economic capacity, comprising around 270 million people whose official language is Portuguese, spread across five continents.


During the meeting, the Secretary of State presented the ‘Portugal Nação Global’ Business Forum, to be held in Lisbon in April this year, an initiative aimed at strengthening the link between Portugal and its business diaspora, promoting investment, internationalisation and the creation of new economic opportunities. The CCBP expressed its commitment to mobilise and accompany a delegation of representatives of the Portuguese diaspora in Belgium to participate in this Forum.


The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of Portugal to Belgium, António Costa Moura, as well as Rui Paulo Almas, Director of AICEP in Belgium and Luxembourg.
